Creating an AR/VR integrated teaching material

    There are fascinating opportunities for language study with AR and VR. Through the use of gadgets like smartphones, augmented reality (AR) overlays digital data onto the physical world, increasing interaction and being easily accessible. However, it has the potential to be superficial and distracting. Virtual reality (VR) offers unmatched immersion and a secure learning environment by generating completely realistic digital environments for practice that mirrors real-life situations. High prices, technological difficulties, and possible isolation are some of its disadvantages. AR is more suited to vocabulary and basic training, whilst VR is best for advanced conversational practice. Both technologies can be beneficial if used carefully, taking into account their different strengths and weaknesses.

    My friends Emir, Emirhan and Hüseyin and I did this assignment as a group. With the help of these technologies, we introduced two landmarks of Florence and traditional food. While making this introduction; we used videos, 3D models of structures on the internet and 360 videos. Students had the opportunity to get to know the city by accessing these materials through QR codes we put on the worksheet. In addition, we contributed to the student's learning through the questions we prepared about these places and food. We made learning fun by making the questions interesting. We prepared four questions for each of the things we introduced. At the end, as homework, we asked the students to write a diary imagining that they had spent a day in Florence. 

    It was fun to prepare this project because it enabled us to get to know the city of Florence. While preparing the project, we found videos, 3D models and 360 videos for each of them. Then we turned these materials into QR codes and added them to our worksheet. It took us some time to prepare interesting questions while preparing the worksheet. In this process, we successfully completed the project without any problems.
