USING AI TOOLS in LANGUAGE LEARNING and TEACHING: AN INTERVIEW WITH Mustafa Kemal ATATÜRK

 For this week's assignment, we were asked to interview someone who has an important place in history. I chose Mustafa Kemal Atatürk for this assignment. I had the opportunity to interview Atatürk through an imaginary chat environment with artificial intelligence. I asked a total of ten questions in this interview. I used ‘Magic School's Character Chatbot’ to conduct this interview.

Then I wrote a report about this interview, which was mainly about the content of the questions and the answers to them. After the first draft was finished, I used ‘Magic School's Writing Feedback tool’ to get feedback on the report. I received feedback on grammar, word choices, cohesion and fluency. Thanks to the feedback I received, I was able to make the necessary adjustments in the second draft.

Through this process, I once again realised how much artificial intelligence has developed. Artificial intelligence that can help you in many different areas is now much more widespread. Of course, this situation offers great convenience both in doing this assignment and in other fields. Of course, the state of artificial intelligence today is not its final state and continues to develop day by day, making it difficult to predict the future of artificial intelligence.

Artificial intelligence has become easily accessible to everyone today. Using this situation in the field of education has also become easier. Teachers can now utilise artificial intelligence in the classroom, and at the same time, they can ask students to get help from artificial intelligence when doing homework. In this way, the learning process can become more interesting. In the coming years, the use of artificial intelligence in classrooms may become widespread and its use may increase. However, in my opinion, it is impossible for artificial intelligence to replace the teacher in teaching, because although this process requires knowledge, it is also a social process. In this case, artificial intelligence will continue to be used only as a tool in classrooms.
